Yahoo Unleashes $100M Marketing CampaignYahoo outlined its new global branding campaign today, dubbed “It’s You!”, which is focused on the personalization of its homepage and products. The campaign, which has a budget of more than $100 million, includes tag lines that will be featured on the homepage such as “It’s time to get personal” and “The new Yahoo lets you do it your way every day.” The company also released an updated version of its Yahoo search product. The update, shown to the media last month, includes a left-hand column that lets users filter their results by using Search Monkey data. The layout resembles Microsoft’s Bing, which is interesting since the two companies inked a search deal in July. |
The Yacht of all YachtsRussian billionaire Roman Abramovich has a rather curious new addition built in to his latest oversized yacht. The 557-foot boat Eclipse, the price tag of which has almost doubled since original plans were drawn to almost $1.2 billion, set sail this week with a slew of show-off features, from two helipads, two swimming pools and six-foot movie screens in all guest cabins, to a mini-submarine and missile-proof windows to combat piracy. It might not seem like somebody with such ostentatious tastes would crave privacy, but along with these expensive toys, Ambramovich has installed an anti-paparazzi “shield”. |
Myspace Introduces ‘Sync to Twitter’ Status UpdatesRemember MySpace? Of course you do, still the second largest social network in the world and yet still up there with the most hideous looking websites ever to grace the internet with its existence – despite being owned by a small company called Fox Interactive Media. Sorry, I get frustrated sometimes. Anyhow, news just in via Techcrunch that the site has enabled two way status updates syncing to Twitter. Using Twitter OAuth, status updates from MySpace can be posted to Twitter with a link back to MySpace. Members can choose either one-way (read-only) or two-way syncing. AOL, Facebook and now MySpace all incorporate Twitter update syncing now. It appears as though the status update has found its home. via The Next Web. |
Is the Zune HD Better Than the iPod?What it is: You’ve no doubt heard of Zune — Microsoft’s much-hyped personal media player (PMP) — but you may not have seen much of it. Unfortunately for Microsoft, the device hasn’t exactly caught on with the mainstream, with Apple’s iPod (not to mention iPhone) still dominating the space. Zune HD is the Zune’s third iteration and it comes in 16 -gigabyte (GB) and 32GB varieties, a 3.3-inch OLED touchscreen, support for HD Radio and downloadable apps, and a Web browser. |
